My approach
If you are considering beginning counselling, I will always suggest an initial assessment meeting. This gives me the opportunity to hear why you are seeking support at this time and it gives you the opportunity to get a feel of how I work.
I aim to provide a warm and safe environment in which you can talk confidentially about any problems and anxieties you may be having. We will take time to discuss your situation and look at the best way forwards for you at this time. If we think I am the right person for you to work with we can decide how to proceed from here. I can also refer you to other services and practitioners if we don’t feel that my way of working is right for you.
Sometimes a specific problem can be focused on and some resolution arrived at in a short number of sessions. In other situations more time is needed to understand underlying or reoccurring anxieties and problems.
There are many different models and styles of counselling which can feel quite confusing when looking for a counsellor. Do please ask me any questions you have about this. My core model is psychodynamic. This has provided me with a solid foundation from which I have undertaken training in many other areas and therefore draw upon a variety of different techniques when appropriate.
Experience
I am an Accredited Counsellor with extensive experience of working in both short and longer term models. I work with individuals and couples. I originally began practising in the voluntary sector, going on to work for the NHS and then into Private Practise. Prior to my counselling career I worked for several years in a youth centre and ran various art groups including a group for adults with learning difficulties
I am a fully trained Supervisor. As well as the supervision of counsellors, I also work within the business and educational sectors at all levels form senior management to project worker supervision

During the course of my career I have attended numerous trainings, lectures and workshops. Ongoing professional Development has included Couples Counselling, CPD, Brief and Solution Focused Therapies

Currently £42 per session - fees are reviewed annually
