My approach

I aim to create a relationship with you which is compassionate, respectful and confidential, and within which you have time and space to think about yourself and the difficulties you are facing. I may be able to help with:

  • Life crises: bereavement, serious illness, crisis pregnancy, divorce, accidents and other traumatic events
  • Stress: including work related issues
  • Anxiety and depression: including that which is related to eating disorders, body image, compulsive and/or obsessive behaviours)
  • Relationships with family, friends, work colleagues: helping you to maintain fulfilling relationships with yourself and others
  • Abuse: sexual or physical including childhood abuse
  • Personal Growth: improving your self esteem, confidence and assertiveness
  • Armed Forces' Servicemen and Women, Veterans and Families: the unique challenges of Service life and the difficulties that servicemen and women, veterans and their families often face are a special area of interest

Talking to someone who is separate from the rest of your life is often very helpful, and enables you to see and feel things from a new perspective. Talking and being fully listened to can help to relieve emotional distress and can facilitate change. For example it may become easier to make decisions that will change or improve your life while you have the support I can offer you.

Following initial contact by phone or e-mail I will arrange to meet you to talk about your current situation and what you would like from any work we might do together. At this time I would discuss my approach fully with you so that we could decide together whether psychotherapy is appropriate for you. If we don't proceed, I can help you to explore other avenues for support.
